Sprout at SFA will host a volunteer cleanup of the Sprout at SFA gardens this Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 9 a.m. until noon, after floodwaters from La Nana Creek inundated the area during last week’s tropical storm.
“After an assessment of the Sprout garden, I'm sad to say that much of our produce was destroyed from Tropical Storm Bill,” said Dr. Jared Barnes, assistant professor of horticulture. “The produce that was not destroyed has to be disposed of due to contact with over three feet of flood water that covered the garden.”
Despite the destruction of much of the produce, Sprout at SFA will continue to have cut flowers available. In order for the floral arrangements to be better enjoyed all week by purchasers, Sprout will shift its market hours to Tuesdays from 12 to 1p.m. until further notice.
